Intensive Behavioural Intervention Certificate
IBI Certificate course teaches students a thorough understanding of autism spectrum disorders. Theories regarding causation, communication challenges, and the treatment of current interventions techniques implemented. Students will be introduced to the principles of applied behavioural analysis (ABA) in the treatment of autism within intensive behavioural intervention.
Student will learn BF Skinner analysis of behavioural classification of language, how to teach the various verbal operant, how to identify beginning target for teaching including increasing opportunity for communication. Focus will be placed on teaching procedures, data collection, natural environment teaching, error correction, prompting, the role of reinforcement, socialization and skills such as toilet training will be addressed.
Topics covered includes:
Identifying and describing individuals with autism spectrum disorders.
Collaborating to develop effective programs
Creating context for instruction
Accommodating sensory issues
Using applied behavior analytic instructional strategies
Programming for challenging behavior
Encouraging communication and verbal behaviour
Course Duration 30 hrs Course is offered weekends only This course is designed for health care professionals, nurses, teachers working with children suffering from aspergers or autism, social workers, social service workers, personal support workers, personal care attendant, community care workers and people who are currently supporting individuals' with an ASD disorder.
