Medical Esthetic Certificate for RN'S and RPN's
With the rapid advances and changing environment in the field of skin care and the practice of cosmetic medicine, has created an increased need for both education and special certification for nurses. The medical esthetic training program is design to embrace the change in skin care in respect to the changing role of the registered nurse (RN) and registered practical nurse (RPN) who are embarking on a process of career transition in medical esthetics.
Upon completion of the course, job opportunities includes: doctor's office, medical spa, self employed, spa, skin care clinic, dermatologist office, and cosmetic clinic
Course content includes:
- Introduction to medical esthetics
- The role of the nurse in esthetics
- Patient management, documentation and record keeping
- Dermatology, and diseases of the skin,
- Dermatology procedure,skin analysis, assessment
- Facial treatment
- Micro dermabrasion
- Laser therapy
- Sclerotherapy
- The use of glycolic acids and peels
- Cosmetic injectables,
- Botox, dermal fillers, juvederm
- corrective makeup
Entrance requirement Non restrictive license with the college of nurses of Ontario as a registered nurse or registered practical nurse.
Course is offered Saturdays only Couse duration 3 months.
Upon completion a certificate in medical esthetics is offered.
Mode of instruction, classroom instructor led, hands on participation, demonstration of laser equipment, visitation in a cosmetic clinic, hands on practical use of microdermabrasion machine on clients, demonstration of injectable dermal filler and botox.
